Troop 828's annual "New Scout" campout is a great way for new scouts to learn many outdoor scouting skills.  Many of the requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks will be taught and practiced during this weekend campout: orienteering, hiking, plant and animal identification, fire-building, pitching a tent, sleeping in a tent, knot-tying, personal fitness, use of stoves, knives, axes, etc.  This campout gets new scouts off to a really good start and prepares them for future camping trips, including summer camp.
